La mesa está en el centro de la habitación. = The table is in the center of the room.
¿Te gusta el sofá aquí, entre los dos sillones? = Do you like the sofa here, between the two armchairs?

We can use prepositions and adverbs of place without de when the reference point is not mentioned.

¿Dónde ponemos el cuadro: a la derecha de la ventana o a la izquierda? = Where should we put the painting, to the right of the window or to the left?

Remember: de + el = del

WITH ADJECTIVES Ciudad de México es más grande que Guadalajara.
= Mexico City is larger than Guadalajara.

WITH VERBS En Ciudad de México la gente sale más que en Guadalajara.
= In Mexico City people go out more than in Guadalajara.

Making Comparisons

COMPARATIVES OF EQUALITY (AS MUCH AS, AS MANY AS)

WITH NOUNS
Esta casa tiene	tanto espacio tanta luz tantos balcones tantas habitaciones	como la otra.	This house has as much space/light as the other one. This house has as many balconies/rooms as the other one.

Tanto needs to agree with the noun it modifies: tanto/-a/-os/-as.

WITH ADJECTIVES

Aquí las casas son tan caras como en bogotá. Here the houses are as expensive as in Bogotá.

Tan never changes, even if the adjective after it is singular or plural.

WITH VERBS

Aquí la gente sale tanto como en tu ciudad. Here people go out as much as in your city.
Estas sillas me gustan tanto como las otras. I like these chairs as much as the other ones.

Tanto never changes, even if the verb form changes.

COMPARATIVES OF INEQUALITY (LESS)

WITH NOUNS Mi casa tiene menos balcones que esta.			My house has fewer balconies than this one.

			This house doesn't have as much space/light as the other one. This house doesn't have as many balconies/rooms as the other one.

WITH ADJECTIVES

Esta casa es menos luminosa que la otra. This house is less bright than the other one.
Aquí las casas no son tan caras como en mi ciudad. Here the houses are not as expensive as the ones in my city.

WITH VERBS

Aquí la gente sale menos que en españa. Here people go out less than in Spain.
Aquí la gente no sale tanto como en españa. Here people don't go out as much as in Spain.
