A street party

I love the street where I live. I live at number 12 and I’m friends with the girls who live at numbers 5 and 9, so we always spend time together. But all the neighbours who live in my street are really friendly and we often do things together.

Last summer, we had a big street party. ¹ I got ready nervously, because I really wanted it to be a success. We carefully prepared all the food for the party and set it out on tables in the street. Jeff, the man who lives next door to us, has got a big, long barbecue and he used it to cook burgers perfectly! During the morning, everyone came out slowly into the street. ² At midday, we had lunch together and then we cleared the food away tidily. ³ Later on in the afternoon, we had a surprise.
